Student Assistance Program

SAP

A Program to Assist students in Botetourt County Secondary Schools

Providing Prevention and Early Intervention Services

Botetourt County’s Student Assistance Program (SAP) is to provide prevention and early intervention when substance abuse, violence, and emotional distress is suspected. Services are provided through group and inpidual counseling, coordinating service with local agencies, providing training for staff, and collaborating with community agencies.

SAP is a program that provides a confidential setting for students who can benefit from education regarding life skills such as (but not limited to): violence, substance abuse, suicide prevention, problem solving, communication, self-esteem, decision making skills, and the effect of their own or someone else’s use of alcohol or other drugs. Each student’s contact is kept confidential, involving others only when concern for the health, safety, or welfare of the student arises.

Our Student Assistance Program (SAP) team consists of in-school staff working together with community agencies and available resources.

To make an appointment please call the Lord Botetourt main office at 540-992-1261, and ask to speak with the SAP Coordinator.
