Random Drug Testing of Students Policy Information
Posted on 07/08/2025
Botetourt County Public Schools requires random drug testing for students in grades 6–12 who voluntarily participate in school-sponsored extracurricular activities and/or request a parking permit to park at Lord Botetourt High School or Botetourt Technical Center.
Lord Botetourt High School will conduct meetings for parents and students, consisting of two sessions. The first session will review the BCPS Random Drug Testing Policy, required for students requesting a parking permit, students who may be involved in athletics, and competitive extracurricular activities. After the policy review in the first session, students who are not participating in athletics may leave and do not need to remain for the Athletics Policies
review. The second session will be a review of the BCPS Athletics Policies, required for students trying out for VHSL sports. Lord Botetourt will host these meetings in the LBHS Auditorium on the following dates and times:
● Sunday, July 27, 2025 - 2 PM
● Thursday, July 31, 2025 - 7 PM
● Thursday, August 7, 2025 - 6 PM
Please plan to attend one of the scheduled meetings if your student intends to participate in athletics, extracurricular activities, or request a parking permit during the 2025-2026 school year.
